FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS AT UT AUSTIN
***NOTE: The stats program is in /public/bin on the Linux machines. You invoke it with the command "/public/bin/stats" One way to use it is to make a directory in which you put all data files and run stats from that directory. Then when you type "vars" you will get a list of variables (data files) in the current directory. You can also put a statsrc file in the directory in which you run the program and indicate in that file the directory where your variables reside. I will discuss more about this in class (or feel free to discuss it with me during office hrs.) To use R, type "R" at an xterm prompt. There is a manual (.pdf format) linked from my home page - M378K section. ***ALWAYS SHOW ALL WORK ON HOMEWORK. ***NOTE: These assignments are subject to change (until I have written them on the board in class.) **********NOTE**********: HOMEWORK THAT I RECEIVE AFTER THE CLASS ON THURSDAY (FOR EXAMPLE IF I FIND IT UNDER MY OFFICE DOOR) IS MOST LIKELY NOT GOING TO BE GRADED. ************************ TA(Grader): June Malta, RLM 11.156, 475-8768, jmalta@math.utexas.edu ***NOTE: If you have a hotmail, yahoo or aol email address, make sure that emails to me contain the course name (M378K) on the subject line.
