Higgs bundles can be viewed as certain reductions of flat bundles. The moduli space of Higgs bundles enjoys many geometric properties: it has a hyperKahler structure; moreover, it is an integrable system called the Hitchin system. I will describe the fibers of the Hitchin's Hamiltonians in the cases when and . Time permitting, I will explain how to understand the hyperKahler structure from the point of view of nonabelian Hodge theory.Submitted by psafronov@math.utexas.edu | |
