In Memorium: Peter W. M. John, 1923 – 2015

Peter John, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin, passed away peacefully in his home in Austin on January 22, 2015. As he wished, there was no memorial service. An obituary will appear in the Austin American Statesman on Sunday, February 22.

I have posted some information about Peter here.

  1. Dr. Peter W. M. John will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. I remember his kindness, his humor and above all, his brilliance in the field of Experimental Design. He was a consummate statistician, gifted teacher, admirable researcher, and an exemplary human being. Thank you Dr. John.

  2. I am so sorry to hear of Peter’s passing. I had the pleasure of knowing him for about 15 years as a colleague at UT. He gave the impression of being a bit prickly, but he was such a wonderfully kind person. I will be forever grateful for the interest he took in me and my daughter when she became chronically ill, and the support and information he and Mrs. John provided.
