Junior Geometry: Representation theory in Physics: (super)particles in QFT by

Representation theory plays a huge role in QFT. For example, a particle (in 4 dimension) is defined to be an irreducible representation of the Poincare group. In this talk, I will talk about the classification of particles in QFT, using representation theory and putting them in physical terms. This talk is in two parts, first part is roughly 45 minutes and we will go over the classification of particles in QFT, then explicitly construct the spinors. After a short break, the second part is roughly 30 minutes and we will classify superparticles, which are irreducible representation of the superspace. Along the way, we will see classical representation theory elements like characters, highest weight vectors etc. Submitted by
