The cluster system consists of 46
Sun Fire V20z
servers.
Each server is equipped with two 2.2Ghz
AMD
Opteron
processors,
4 GB of RAM, a gigabit NIC, and a 36 GB SCSI hard drive. Each
server is also furnished with a power PC processor and a megabit NIC
for internal system management. The servers are interconnected
through two Nortel Gigbit switches. The storage device
is a 1 TB IDE raid array from western scientific.
The whole cluster system is enclosed
in two APC racks.
The cluster system is running a 64 bit version of linux
from Debian. Kernel version 2.6.8.1, libc version 2.3.2.
It contains all the standard software available on our
local network.
