Poorman's Content Management System

Poorman's CMS is a web content management system written specifically for members of the Mathematics Department. The goal of this system is to provide a browser based authoring tool for our users, expert or novice, to create and manage professional level, standard compliant websites with ease. No knowledge of web publishing is required to use this system.

Poorman's CMS is based on Javascript, CGI and CSS. It is designed around the WYSIWYG editor, which provides a familiar user interface similar to well known office applications. This system consists of the following components:
  • An integrated (almost truely) WYSIWYG editor
  • A professionally designed template with about a dozen layout variations.
  • Integrated EID authentication
  • A collection of CGI scripts that automatically manage sitemap, menubar, navigation sidebar and breadcumb trails.
This system uses pacakge jsMath to format and display Mathematical expressions in native TeX form on javascript enabled browsers.

Before you start using Poorman's CMS, please be informed that this system is beta quality software. It has bugs, some of them may even be serious. You should also know that this system contains only a minimal set of features that is necessary for you to manage websites on our webserver.

Please also keep in mind that Poorman's CMS is just a tool to help you presenting your information on the web. It knows nothing about, nor does it care about how the information is organized. Therefore, before using this system, you should plan ahead and give some serious thoughts on organizing the materials you wish to publish.

Note: Due to some subtle incompatibilities among various javascript implementations, the WYSIWYG editor in this system works only on mozilla based browsers, HTML source editor is available on all browsers. The website it manages will display nicely on all browsers, including text based browsers and mobile devices.
