Items on template

The image below is the screenshot of a hypothetical page. It includes all elements on our template. To see a short description of each element, move your mouse pointer over the element.
The most important item on the page is the "last modified" link, marked by on the image. This link is your gateway to the admin screen of this CMS system.

Navigation Elements

  • Menubar  is normally automatically generated by the system. It consists of exactly 6 menu buttons. By defaut, these buttons are linked to the index file of the first level subfolders on your site. Only the first 6 subfolders will be listed (try hard to organize your site in exactly six categories :-).  When the mouse pointer is placed over a button,  it posts a menu that list and link to pages inside the relevent subfolder.  You can also manually manage the menubar using the "Edit menubar" link on the admin screen. You can also disable it, in which case the bar can be used to display a short piece of text (headlines). The menubar stays the same on all pages on your site.
  • Navigation sidebar  lists of contents of the current folder, along with the pathway to the toplevel index file of your site. For subfolders, it posts a walk through submenu for easy access to its contents. A "Home" link is persistent on the sidebar. A space is reserved on top of the sidebar for your webmaster to post emergency annoucements. You can also manage the sidebar manually. Sidebar is folder based, you can have a separate sidebar for each folder.
  •  Breadcrumbs trail  is another navigation tool. By default, the system uses position based trails. In other words, it shows your position inside the documentation tree. It is redundent when sidebar is used.  We will implement a context based trail system in the future.
  • Last updated  is for you, the author or maintainer of the page, to get to the administration screen of this system.  EID authentication is required.
  • Sitemap on the footer links to the sitemap of your site. Sitemap is generated automatically by the system.
  • Feedback on the footer provides a feedback form. Feedback will be send to our webmaster, he/she will forward it to the owner of the site.
  • Privacy and Accessibility links on the footer link to UT's web publising policy page. Site managed by this system complies with those guidelines.
  • Font sizers are the 5 links on the upper right corner. They provide a convenient way for users to set and save the font sizes when visit your site (available only on mozilla based browsers.)
  • Site Links are a few links next to the fontsizers. They are managed by your webmaster.

Search Tools

A search box is provided on the template.  Visitors can search within UT Math, UT or the whole world wide web at large. Currently the search service is provided by google. There is no way to restrict the search to within your site.  We may implement a local search services in the future.

Graphic Elements

Site logo and the top banner are the only two graphic elements on the layout. Both are implemented as background image of a HTML elements. Both can be customized.
