New Graduate Students Orientation

Welcome to The University of Texas at Austin.  The information contained on this site is intended for new graduate students who have been admitted to the graduate program in Mathematics.

All new graduate students will probably want to look at the links to the left about moving to Austin, living in Austin, and being new graduate students. In addition, if you will be employed as a Teaching Assistant or Graduate Research Assistant, you will want to view the new employee section as well.

New international students will want to look at these sections: moving here, living here, being a new student, being an employee, and special information just for international students.

It is a lot to read, but we think it will make your move to the University of Texas at Austin a smooth transition.

Questions about academics and mathematical research should be directed to the Graduate Advisor at gradadv@math.utexas.edu.

If you have read all the material provided on this website and have questions, please email Nancy Lamm at nlamm@math.utexas.edu.

Again welcome and congratulations! With an enrollment of 39,000 undergraduate students, 11,000 graduate students, 2,500 faculty members, 14,000 staff, and a yearly budget of $1.7 billion, the University of Texas at Austin is the nation's largest university. We are ranked among the top public universities in North America - press release.
