Abstract. We review some of the recent developments of White Noise Analysis as
preparation for a discussion of a recent, mathematically rigorous and
effective reformulation of the Feynman integral as one involving generalized
functions of infinite dimensional analysis. In a last section we indicate a
first step towards a similar treatment of Schwinger's functional formulation
for the expectation values and his functional differential equations for
quantum field theory.
