Abstract. In many physical problems, one has to minimize a G-invariant potential, i.e. a potential invariant under the action of a symmetry group. In this case a powerful tool is offered by a theorem of L. Michel and generalizations thereof. The purpose of this note is to discuss just another such generalization, to gauge potentials.
