Hi all,

I am PhD student in economics and prefer to use GPL'ed software as soon as
possible.
I use Maxima 5.9.2 on Windows XP and 5.9.3 on fedora 5 for symbolic ans
simple numeric
calculations. Until now, it was OK. Unfortunately, i can not get an
axplicit answer for the call
"solve(log(0.25*(2*b+5)) - 0.5*log(5*b-5),b); "
But on commercial software like matlab 7.0 i get the solutions
"2.02277; 12.9772"

Any help?

Thanks in advance...
