[Maxima] error in plot command?

I never got parametric plot2d to work without out t as parameter as
well.

In 5.11.0,

plot2d([parametric,cos(t),sin(t)],[t,0,6]);

produces the plot, but

(%i3) plot2d([parametric,cos(u),sin(u)],[u,0,6]);

Unknown plot option specified:  u
  -- an error.  To debug this try debugmode(true);
