[Maxima] Newbie Questions

Hi All,

I am obviously new to this mailing list - so flame away if I missed
something obvious!

1. Is there a FAQ somewhere?

2. Is there a repository of Maxima programs used for special things?

For example, has someone implemented cryptography, number theory, special
functions, etc. using Maxima and that is available for use to peruse
somewhere?
