for my excuse, I'm not familiar with sourceforge and
I have only a slow internet connection.

Couldn't someone (a script?) always upload a gzipped diff-file
along the latest maxima-XX.YY.ZZ.tar.gz and it's predecessor?

e.g.

diff -urN maxima-5.19.1 maxima-5.19.2 > maxima-5.19.1-5.19.2.diff
gzip maxima-5.19.1-5.19.2.diff
upload maxima-5.19.1-5.19.2.diff.gz

where maxima-5.19.{1,2} are the directories containing the particular source.
