Bruce P. Palka (palka@math.utexas.edu): Research interests include (a) a study of the implications of geometric measure theory for the theory of quasiconformal mappings and (b) the application of quasiconformal mappings to problems in geometric measure theory, particularly to variational problems (e.g., minimal surfaces) and to questions concerning the symmetry of frctal sets. A second topic of growing interest to him is the relation between the theory of quasiconformal mappings and the theory of invariant differential operators on hyperbolic n-space.
