This is where I will post homework assignments and other announcements. For example, the first-day handout.

There will be no office hours on thursday Jan 22; instead they will be on friday Jan 23 from 11-12. Also, office hours on thursday Jan 29 will be at 2:30-3:30, not the usual time. (These changes are because of an unusual number of lectures and meeting that I need to attend.)

6.1: 3, 5, 6, 12
6.2: 1, 4, 6, 9, 19, 25, 31, 32

HW10 (due tue april 7)
6.3: 5, 10, 13, 18 (note: instructions on 18(a) are a little terse; maybe this will help: consider a small piece of the plate, of area dA. You can work out its mass using the known density. It is moving, by virtue of the plate rotating, so you can work out its velocity, which depends on which area element you are considering. So you can work out the kinetic energy of that chunk of the plate. Also: angular velocity ω means that the plate spins through ωt radians in a time t.)
