Welcome to my M325K homepage. I'll be using this space to post some additional information about the class.
Solutions to Problem Set 5 (questions on logic)
One thing I noticed while grading Problem Sets 4, 6, and 7 (the problem sets on chapters 3 and 4) was that people had a tendency to use "theorems" from the text that were incorrect and needed to be salvaged. Obviously, if a result is based on an incorrect theorem, then the result itself is also incorrect (or at least the given proof of the result is incorrect). To help you separate fact from fiction, here is an index of the incorrect theorems in chapters 3 and 4, and the extra hypotheses needed to salvage them.
You can now find my solutions to the quiz problems here and here. (The first document consists of pages 1, 2, 3, and 4 in that order; the second consists of the back sides of 4, 3, 2, and 1 in that order. My apologies for the funny formatting.) I say "my solutions" and not "the solutions" because it is rare for a problem to have only one correct solution (although the solutions I gave were the easiest that I could find using the methods we've discussed in this class). As such, it may have been possible for you to earn partial credit without following the same method that I used. In such cases, I tried to assign an amount of partial credit commensurate with the amount of (correct) work that you did.
