Research

My field of work is algebraic geometry. A significant part of my research is concerned with the study of the geometry and topology of various moduli spaces. Among other things I am interested in moduli of curves, enumerative geometry and Gromov-Witten theory, vector bundles on curves, abelian varieties and their moduli, theta functions, K3 surfaces, Brill-Noether type problems and syzygies of algebraic varieties. I am an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow and my research is partly funded by the National Science Foundation Grants DMS-0500747 and DMS-0450670.

    Teaching

  • Here are links to the videos of my 2007 lectures on moduli spaces of curves in Daejeon, Korea for the NIMS Winter School on Algebraic Geometry

  • Teaching at the University of Texas: In the Fall of 2006 I taught Classical Algebraic Geometry. In the Spring of 2005 I taught Algebraic Geometry. Here is the link to the Multivariable Calculus course I gave in the Fall of 2005. In the Fall of 2006 I gave a course on Abelian Varieties

  • In August 2006 I taught a short course on moduli of curves in Cologne as part of a summer school on "Moduli Spaces and Arcs" organized by S. Kebekus. These are my notes in djvu format:
First lecture, Second lecture, Third lecture

  • In July 2005 as part of the Warm Up week for the AMS Summer Institute in Algebraic Geometry in Seattle, I lead a workshop for graduate students on Degeneration Methods in Algebraic Geometry . You can also find here the notes for my talk about "Syzygies of varieties and Green's Conjecture"
