 Syllabus and prerequisites

Text: Andrilli and Hecker, Elementary Linear Algebra, Fourth Edition, Academic Press 2010, ISBN 978-0-12-374751-8.

Homework will be collected Friday mornings at the beginning of class (or immediately if you arrive late that day). If you can't attend that day, you can slip the paper under my door before 11:00AM on the due date. Late papers will not be accepted. HW#14 will be assigned but not collected.

Your current grade data will be available on Blackboard .
Exams: In class on Wed. Feb. 20 (covers HW#1-4) and Wed. March 27 (covers HW#5-8). No electronic devices; computation will be kept reasonably simple.
Final exam as officially scheduled, Fri. May 10, 2-5PM, in our usual room RLM 6.114. Emphasis will be on material not covered by the previous exams.
Course grades will be determined by homework (10%), in-class exams (30% each) and final exam (30%). Attendance will not be included. Plus/minus grades will be used as needed.

Chapter 2, Systems of Linear Equations: 7 lectures
Chapter 3, Determinants and Eigenvalues:  3 lectures
Chapter 4, Finite Dimensional Vector Spaces: 16 lectures
Chapter 5, Linear Transformations: 7 lectures
