Why is "M 427K
or M 378K" one of the requirements for the Math BS-Teaching
Option? These courses don't seem to be at all similar?

What's the Saturday
Morning Math Group, and how can I get involved in it?
- The Saturday
Morning Math Group (SMMG) is a UT outreach program which gives
junior and senior high school students an introduction to diverse and
fun areas of mathematics which they typically do not encounter in
classes.
- You are welcome to attend any Saturday Morning Math Group. You
might be able to arrange to help (and get paid for it). The SMMG often
has UTeach interns. For more information, contact the organizer at mailto:smmg@math.utexas.edu.
I've heard about a conference called CAST for science teachers.
Is there anything similar for math teachers?
- Yes. CAMT (Conference
for the Advancement if Mathematics Teaching) is an annual Texas
conference for K-12 mathematics teachers. The conference is sponsored
jointly by the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Council of Teachers of
Mathematics, the Texas Association of Supervisors of Mathematics, and
the Texas Section of the Mathematical Association of America. The
three-day conference is conducted each summer, on a rotating basis, in
Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. The 2001 conference was in San
Antonio July 19 - 21. The 2002 conference will be in Dallas July 8 -
