The results are a little disappointing, with averages dropping about
7 points from the 2nd exam. It's not clear whether that's because this
exam was harder, because it's crunch time with lots of work for everybody
and little time to catch up, or because you and I simply did a better job of
learning and teaching in October than we did in November. Whatever the reasons,
I was quite pleased with the 2nd exam results but am somewhat
disappointed at the 3rd exam results.
The average score was a 65.0, with a standard deviation of 21.9.
The median score was a 77.
One person scored a perfect 100.
The morning discussion session did much better (average=74.2)
than the afternoon session (average = 55.5).
The distribution of scores was:
100: 1
90-99: 12
80-89: 23
70-79: 22
60-69: 23
50-59: 19
40-49: 7
30-39: 4
20-29: 3
10-19: 5
0-9: 3
Very roughly speaking, a score of 83-100 is an A, 65-82 is a B, 50-65 is
a C, 40-50 is a D, and <40 is an F.
