Conference check-in will be in Robert L. Moore Hall (RLM) Room 12.104. Robert L. Moore Hall is the very tall building located on the UT Austin campus at the southeast corner of 26th Street and Speedway. Free parking is available in the lots on the southwest and northwest corners. Please careful not to park in any spaces which are "reserved at all times". The lecture will be held in ECJ 1.202 (Ernest Cockrell, Jr. Hall, the building just to the east of RLM). After the Friday lecture, a complimentary buffet will be provided in the Santa Rita Room in the Texas Union on the UT campus. Vegetarian dishes will be available. Maps will be provided.
The conference will continue all day Saturday and until noon on Sunday with lectures in ECJ 1.202 and continental breakfast in RLM 12.104. Lunch Saturday will be on your own (a map showing nearby restaurants will be provided).
There will be a barbecue dinner on Saturday evening at the home of Karen Uhlenbeck and Bob Williams. Vegetarian dishes will be available. Maps and rides will be provided.
Unfortunately, the conference hotel, Rodeway Inn-University, is now full.
The next closest hotel, and the only other one within easy walking distance of the Mathematics Dept, is the Days Inn at 3105 N Interstate 35 (512-478-1631 or 800-725-ROOM). It is across I-35 from the Rodeway-University and has been remodelled recently. The UT weekend rates are: Single $72, Double $79, King Suite $85 (has king bed and double-size sleeper sofa--good for groups).
If you will be driving and price is an issue, I suggest that you try one of the Motel 6's on I-35--either the Highland Mall or the North location. Be sure to ask for UT rates.
In addition, The Rodeway Inn-North is actually quite close, 5656 N. Interstate 35. Its weekend rates are: Single $48, Double $56.
If you are driving and price is not an issue, almost every major chain has a hotel in central Austin.
Transportation from the airport is simple--take a taxi. They are right outside baggage claim. The airport is very close in--fares to the UT campus or the Rodeway Inn run about $9-10.
Hotel:
2 nights 1/2 of double occupancy rate at a reasonablably-priced hotel; if two supported people room together at the Rodeway-University, I MAY be able to get the hotel to direct-bill the UT Mathematics Dept.
Transportation:
For people driving, 28 cents/mile roundtrip mileage for the driver of the vehicle.
For people flying, actual airfare up to the Texas state contract fare from the nearest airport.
Meals:
Since Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and dinner, and Sunday breakfast will be provided directly by the conference at no cost to participants, no meal allowance will be paid.
