"Random Stuff About Pi"
featuring Dr. Pedro Morales-Almazán

Video

The number π, as you might expect, plays a big role in geometry, but it also has a bizarre knack for showing up uninvited in probability problems and random processes. On September 27, 2014, Dr. Pedro Morales-Almazán introduced us to this quirky side of the famous circle constant. We tried our luck at finding favorite numbers in π's endless jumble of digits, approximated π using nothing but toothpicks and chance, and went for a virtual walk to see where π's random instructions would take us.
