Welcome!

The Saturday Morning Math Group and Austin Math Circle are UT sponsored outreach programs aimed at junior high and high school students, their teachers, and their parents. For each program, a background in beginning algebra and basic geometry is expected, but is often unnecessary. Both programs are free and no pre-registration is required. All regular SMMG and Math Circles meetings are held on the ground floor of R. L. Moore Hall, the mathematics building of the University of Texas campus, in room RLM 4.102.

Saturday Morning Math Group

At a typical SMMG meeting, a UT faculty member or guest speaker will lead the group in a discussion and exploration of one of his or her favorite topics in mathematics. For an idea of what to expect, please browse our archive of past talks.

Saturday Morning Math Group meets about four times per semester on Saturday mornings from 10:00 am - 12 noon. Please join us!

Additionally, for those that cannot make it to our meetings, we post video of each meeting here.

The Austin Math Circle

The Austin Math Circle is a math and problem solving club for students in the Austin area, sponsored by SMMG. Each month, we'll get together and do an in-depth exploration of a topic from algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics, probability, or logic.

In an effort to accommodate more people, we will be holding Math Circle meetings on Sundays, 1-3 PM, rather than Saturdays. Math Cicle meets about 3 times a semester. Please join us here as well!

Both Saturday Morning Math Group and the Sunday Math Circle meetings are free and open to anyone who wishes to attend.
