Text: Brown and Churchill, Complex Variables and Applications 7th edition, McGraw-Hill After this weekend, the material will be available on my web-site. You will be able to reach it from my home page or from the address www.ma.utexas.edu/users/uhlen/complex.html/home.html There will be weekly homework assignments which will be due on Friday, starting Sept 8. First Assignment: page 4: 1,2,6,10 page 7 1,3,8; page 11 1,3,4,5; page 13 1,2,6,10,11,13,16 page 21 1,2,5,6,9. There will be three in-class exams. These are tentatively scheduled for Sept 22, Octber 20 and November 17 (this last date is not yet firm). There will be a take home final. Extra credit problems will be passed out throughout the term. Students may volunteer to give solutions to these in class. This is experimental, and I am not sure how the grades for these presentations will be taken into account. The problem is that this class is too large to let everybody have many chances at presenting several solutions, but I would like to give it a try. If it works well, I will make arrangements for presentations outside of class and which will affect the grades. Grade scheme: Best five out of 6 grades. Homework = 1 Inclass exams = 3 Final = 2
