Dear Faculty member, We would like to inform you about the Undergraduate Research Information Session: Friday April 21st 12-3 PM Texas Union 3rd Floor, in the Quadrangle and Lone Star rooms We would greatly appreciate it, if you could publicize the event: 1) to undergraduates who may be working or volunteering in your laboratory. 2) in any undergraduate science course that you are currently teaching. We are advertising on campus and to student groups, but it would mean a great deal if faculty members personally encouraged undergraduate researchers to participate. SURGe (Science Undergraduate Research Group) is hosting the Information Session, a casual event with FREE food and many science-related prizes (generously sponsored by the Cabinet of Councils, Student Government and the College of Natural Sciences). The event is open to ALL undergraduates interested in or currently performing research at UT-Austin and every student who attends will receive a prize. In the Lone Star room, we will have several short seminars and provide handouts on certain topics like how to get involved. In the Quadrangle room, we will have exhibits with lots of information covering a variety of research areas including interdisciplinary topics. Experienced undergraduates currently performing research will be available for casual one-on-one conversations and to answer questions. SURGe strives to bring about camaraderie among undergraduates interested in scientific research, and we are committed to increasing awareness of research opportunities as well as encouraging and improving student participation in research at UT. The SURGe Undergraduate Research Information Session is an informal event designed to further these objectives. For more details about the Information Session or SURGe, please have students contact one of us or refer them to the SURGe website: http://www.esb.utexas.edu/surge/news/infosession.htm Thank you for your time and assistance!
