Local Info Page
This page contains some local information, about
Austin ,
UT, etc.
Disclaimer: The opinions below are my own and not
necessarily those of anybody else.
E-mail and UT math account
At registration time you can get a temporary account in the UT math
department system. You can then login to this account either directly
at a math department machine (there are labs on the 8-th through 11-th
floors of RLM) or via
secure shell
from any machine connected to the web.
Most things on your math account will likely look familiar. If
you have questions try this
computer resources page and in particular the searchable FAQ
pages.
For example, the browser to use if you want chinese characters would
be mozilla (rather than netscape).
Library
The math and physics library is located at the gorund level of the the
RLM
building (where the math and physics departments are). It will be
closed on the weekend but will be open 8:00-5:00 Monday through
Wednesday.
The
UT library subscribes to a large number of electronic
journals , which you can check from any UT machine connected to
the web.
Registration
Registration for the conference will take place at the informal
gathering on Friday evening (7:00-10:00pm) at the hotel and also from
8:00 to 9:00am, on Saturday, in the lobby outside the conference room
in the ACES building. You can get expense reimbursement forms, pay the
banquet fee and sign in for the excursion at this time.
Mailing List
I will be sending periodically e-mail with updates. If you have not received
an e-mail about the school yet from the address:
aw04@math.utexas.edu
this probably means you are not in the list. If you would like to be
added to the list please send e-mail to this address. In general all
correspondence concerning local issues of the school should be sent
there. Thanks.

I like
Ruby's BBQ. It's a great TX barbecue place walkable from campus on
29th street. Review
-
Kerbey Lane Cafe is wonderful, don't miss those pancakes. This
review is for the south Austin location but there's one near
campus on Guadalupe.
-
Don't leave Austin without going to
Las Manitas (open for breakfast and lunch only).
