Basic Information

The Saturday Morning Math Group is a UT sponsored outreach program aimed at junior high and high school students, their teachers, and their parents. A background in beginning algebra and basic geometry is expected, but is often unnecessary. It is free and no registration is required. We meet about four times per semester on Saturday mornings from 10:00 am - 12 noon. Please join us!

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will take place on April 26. Our guest will be Dr. John Stanton of the UT Department of Chemistry. Dr. Stanton will be talking about "Fish, Statistics, and Entropy." This should be a very interesting talk - we hope to see you there!

New Location! Due to SMMG's growing attendance, we have moved to Welch Hall, room 1.316 for this semester. Welch Hall is about a block south of R.L. Moore Hall (our previous location), on the west side of Speedway.

2008 Austin Area Problem Solving Challenge

The 2008 AAPSC concludes Saturday, April 12. We will spend the next two weeks reading solutions and deciding the winners of the contest. The winners will be announced at the April 26 meeting of the Saturday Morning Math Group, and prizes will be mailed to the winners shortly thereafter. Good luck to all teams!

The Austin Math Circle

The Austin Math Circle is a math and problem solving club for students in the Austin area, sponsored by SMMG. Each month, we'll get together and do an in-depth exploration of a topic from algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics, probability, or logic.

The Math Circle, like SMMG, is free and open to anyone who wishes to attend.
