Yuri Sulyma, RLM 10.176: Crystalline cohomology and the de Rham-Witt complex

If X is a compact complex manifold, the singular cohomology ofX is isomorphic to the de Rham cohomology of X after tensoringup to ℂ. This imbues the common cohomology groups withadditional structure: they acquire a lattice from the singularside, and a filtration from the de Rham side. p-adic Hodge theoryseeks similar cohomology theories, and comparison theorems, inthe p-adic world. I will explain one such cohomology theory,crystalline cohomology, which is a deformation of algebraic deRham cohomology. In particular, I will explain the structureof the de Rham-Witt complex which computes crystalline cohomology,and how it arises from topological Hochschild homology. Thisis intended to provide some background for Bhargav Bhatt's talk.
