Jun Kitagawa, RLM 10.176: The regularity and stability of free discontinuities in optimal transport
Wednesday, March 06, 2019, 01:00pm - 02:00pm
Regularity of solutions in the optimal transport problem requirevery rigid hypotheses (e.g., convexity of certain sets). Whensuch conditions are not available, one can consider the questionof partial regularity: whether the set of singularities has anynice structure. In this talk I will discuss the set of ``freediscontinuities'' that appear in the optimal transport problemfrom a connected to a disconnected set, along with the stabilityof such sets under suitable perturbations of the data involved. Some of these results are proven via a non-smooth implicit functiontheorem for convex functions, which is of independent interest. This talk is based on joint work with Robert McCann
