Jun Kitagawa, RLM 10.176: The regularity and stability of free discontinuities in optimal transport

Regularity of solutions in the optimal transport problem requirevery rigid hypotheses (e.g., convexity of certain sets). Whensuch conditions are not available, one can consider the questionof partial regularity: whether the set of singularities has anynice structure. In this talk I will discuss the set of ``freediscontinuities'' that appear in the optimal transport problemfrom a connected to a disconnected set, along with the stabilityof such sets under suitable perturbations of the data involved.Some of these results are proven via a non-smooth implicit functiontheorem for convex functions, which is of independent interest.This talk is based on joint work with Robert McCann
