Ceren Kose, 12th floor lounge: The integral homology cobordism group

Two oriented homology 3-spheres are said to be homology cobordantif they cobound a homology cylinder. The set of all homologycobordism classes of oriented homology 3-spheres form an Abeliangroup, which we will call the integral homology cobordism group,with the group operation defined by connected sum. It has beenlong known that this group is not trivial: Rokhlin invariantdistinguishes the 3-sphere and the Poincare homology sphere.We will review what is known about this group and describe aneven valued homology cobordism invariant coming from HeegaardFloer homology that also distinguishes 3-sphere and the Poincarehomology sphere.
