Joe Jackson, RLM 10.176: Probability and the Dirichlet Problem
Friday, February 21, 2020, 03:00pm - 04:00pm
In this talk, we will discuss how to represent solutions to the Dirichlet problem through Brownian motion. We'll start with a classical formulation of the Dirichlet problem, and then use our probabilistic representation of its solution to prove some gradient estimates. We will then consider the Dirichlet problem for harmonic maps between Riemannian manifolds, and show that (under appropriate conditions) we can still represent solutions through Brownian motion.
