Jackson Van Dyke, : Shifted geometric quantization
Monday, March 01, 2021, 12:00pm - 01:00pm
Geometric quantization is one attempt to formalize the notion of quantization of a classical system. The first part of the talk will review ordinary geometric quantization. In particular, we will see that one of the inputs is a symplectic manifold, and the output is a vector space. Then, following Safronov (arXiv:2011.05730), we introduce a generalized notion of geometric quantization that takes a shifted symplectic manifold as an input and produces a (possibly higher) category as the output.
