Abstract. We study the phase structure of the Widom-Rowlinson model on the square lattice. In the symmetric and large activity case, horizontally invariant phases are mixtures of plus and minus phases. When the difference of the activity of plus-particle and that of minus-particle is large enough, the system admits no phase transition. Especially, if phase transion occurs in the symmetric case, then for the same activity Gibbs measure is unique in the asymmetric case. Our proof is based on the percolation method.
