Abstract. We report numerical and analytical studies of the finite size time scales in a system with microscopic stochastic dynamics which in the bulk limit corresponds to an evolution equation with an accumulation point of critical fixed points. Our results suggest that the finite size behavior is dominated not by fluctuations but by the bottle-neck statistical weights at near-fixed-point conditions in a finite-size system.
