The Algebraic Geometry study group meets every Friday at 4pm in RLM 8.136.
It is organized by Roberta Guadagni (rguadagni [at] math [dot] utexas [dot] edu) and Yuri Sulyma (ysulyma [at] math [dot] utexas [dot] edu).
Our objective is to learn classical/complex algebraic geometry, with an emphasis on worked problems and developing intuition. It is held in concert with the Commutative Algebra study group; both aim to prepare us for David Ben-Zvi's schemes course in Spring 2016.
We are reading out of Shafarevich, Basic Algebraic Geometry 1: Varieties in Projective Space.
