« Site Configuration »

The first order of business after installation is to create an admin calendar. You have to do it before disabling anonymous calendar creation. An admin calendar is just a normal calendar that is identified as an admin user in the site configuration file. Multiple calendar administrators is allowed.

The site configuration file is webcalConfig.pm in webCalendar's installation directory. You have to edit this file using a text editor. Currently there is no web interface for site configuration.

Some important site configuration variables are:

  • Local security policy: whether to allow an anonymous user to create his/her own calendar.

  • Language: the default language for all new calendars, and the language to be used on the greeting screen.

  • Administrators: assign calendar administrators.

  • Corporate calendar: assign corporate calendars.

  • Calendar dependency: enable or disable calendar dependency feature.

  • Group event authorization: enable or disable group event authorization feature.

  • Documentation: set URL for local documentations, if any.

  • Date/Time format: set the default date/time format for all new calendars.

  • Auto refresh: set the default auto refresh interval. This option affect all calendars on the system, and it cannot be changed on individual calendars.

  • Image Upload Policy: Enable/disable/configure image/document uploading/reviewing policy.

  • Colors/fonts etc: set default background/foreground color and display styles.
