Discrete Mathematics with Applications by Susanna S. Epp, Third Edition
Honor Code The
core values of the University of Texas at Austin are learning, discovery, freedom, leadership, individual opportunity,
and responsibility. Each member of the University is expected to uphold
these values through integrity, honesty, trust, fairness, and respect toward
peers and community.
Exam Dates
September 19, October 24, November 21
Final Exam Date
Friday, December 12
2:00 - 5:00 pm
BUR 112
There are three in-class exams during the semester and a cumulative in-class final exam.
Homework
Homework will be posted on the course website and announced in class. Homework assignments will be collected weekly. Students are encouraged to discuss all
aspects of the course with each other. However, each student should write their own solutions to homework problems. Copying another student's solution or that
from another text is a violation of the honor code and fails to contribute to your personal mathematical development.
Class Participation
Students will have opportunities to present their solutions to homework problems during class meetings. The other classmates are required to ask questions and
make certain they understand what has been presented. The presenter has the first opportunity to address any questions or comments, and then other classmates
are encouraged to contribute.
Grading
15% Homework
10% Class Participation
15% Exam 1
15% Exam 2
15% Exam 3
30% Final Exam
There will be no makeup exams. A single missed exam grade will be replaced by the final exam grade. The lowest exam grade will be replaced by the final exam grade if
the final exam grade is higher than the lowest exam grade. There may be opportunities to re-write any of the written assignments (with the exception of the final exam)
for grade improvements. Each such opportunity will have a strict deadline. No semester assignments will be accepted after the last day of classes Friday, December 5,
2008. Your final exam grade is final. Thus, any discussions of your course grade must occur prior to the final exam administration on Friday, December 12, 2008.
