In this talk we will try to explain the connections between Fourier summation formulas, quasicrystals, crystalline measures, almost periodic functions and holomorphic modular forms. The idea is to culminate in a new recent classification result by the author arXiv:2312.11185 and discuss implications, and future work, in the description of physical quasicrystals and their diffraction patterns.
