In this series of two talks talk I will survey the construction of canonical (intrinsic) mirror families via the canonical wall structure, obtained in joint work with Mark Gross. The construction is based on punctured Gromov-Witten invariants previously defined in joint work with Abramovich and Qile Chen, that I will also comment on. The first talk is targeted at a general audience with an algebraic geometric background.
