This is the first of a two-talk series about Atiyah Bott localization in enumerative geometry. We will first (quickly) review equivariant cohomology and then discuss Atiyah Bott localization for smooth complex varieties with a torus action and finitely many fixed points. Anyone with a basic background in algebraic geometry or topology should be able to follow this talk.
